The Tail
 
ETAPE 1 : Tie in the thread on the curve of the hook. Five or six turns are enough.
 
ETAPE 2 : Take a length of fine silver oval tinsel.
 
ETAPE 3 : Attach the tinsel under the shank.
 
ETAPE 4 : Bind the tinsel only on the part covered by the thread.
 
ETAPE 5 : Cut the excess tinsel .
 
ETAPE 6 : Take five or six turns of tinsel.
 
 
ETAPE 7 : Lock the tinsel under the shank with the thread.
 
ETAPE 8 : Cut the tinsel then wind the thread in touching turns which will correspond to the length of the tag.
 
ETAPE 9 : Attach a length of yellow polyfloss or Japanese silk floss.
 
 

ETAPE 10 : Cut the excess silk floss .

 
 
ETAPE 11 : Apply a small drop of super glue to fix the tying thread without having to tie a knot.
 
 
ETAPE 12 : Cut the tying thread.
 
ETAPE 13 : Ensure that your floss is not twisted.
 
ETAPE 14 : Form the tag with silk floss. The turns up must be as regular as possible to avoid making bumps.
 
ETAPE 15 : You need to select a golden pheasant feather that is more or less curved to match the style of the fly you have chosen
Here is a very curved feather which goes up high and is thus adapted for flies with multi wings or bulky wings.

 
ETAPE 16 : Here a feather with a less marked curve. The principal wing will be closer to the body and will have a style more flattened.
 
ETAPE 17 : I selected the most curved feather and I locate the point where the feather will be tied in.
 
 
ETAPE 18 : Remove all the fibres which will not be used to form the tail.
