ETAPE
19 :
Attach the tail by 1 or 2 turns of tying thread not more. |
 |
| |
ETAPE
20 :Now check if your feather is well positioned in the plane of the
hook. If not, redo to obtain the best possible result. |
 |
| |
ETAPE
21 : Apply a small drop of super glue where the feather is tied in. This
prevents your feather from moving off its axis while you continuing to tie.
I had several flies where the feather of the tail rocked to the side ruining many hours of work.. |
 |
| |
ETAPE
22 :
Cut the waste end of the feather. |
 |
| |
ETAPE
23 :Choose 2 small symmetrical feathers of jungle cock.
|
 |
| |
ETAPE
24 :
Place the two feathers back to back. |
|
 |
| |
ETAPE
25 :
Remove all useless fibres. |
 |
| |
ETAPE
26 :Attach the two feathers. In 90% of the cases the feathers are not well aligned. To succeed the first time would often be a miracle unless you spent the hours necessary to select feathers of very fine rachis. I will show you my easy way to position them definitively the first time |
 |
| |
ETAPE
27 : Take a flat pair of tweezers |
|
 |
| |
ETAPE
28 : Heat the tips of the tweezers with a lighter. This exercise
requires a little practice. If you heat them too much, you will cut the
feathers. If you do not heat them enough, it will have no affect on the
feathers. Use prudence.
|
|
 |
| |
ETAPE
29 : As soon as your tweezers are at the proper temperature, position
the feathers with your left hand and squeeze the base of the feathers with
the heated tweezers. |
|
 |
| |
ETAPE
30 :
Your two jungle cock feathers are now well aligned.
|
 |
| |
ETAPE
31 : We will now tie the butt which will be formed with ostrich herl
|
 |
| |
ETAPE
32 :Take a feather of black ostrich. Choose feathers with herls having short fibres |
 |
| |
ETAPE 33 :
Take a herl then trim the end.
|
 |
| |
ETAPE
34 :
Attach the herl.
|
 |
| |
ETAPE 35 : Wind the herl with adjacent wraps to form the butt
